Asaase Ye's S-2020

Asase Ye's Second Semester Of AYA

Math - Awesome Algebra
This is a middle school class taught by Mama Evelyn Duduyemi.

Key Learning Part Of My Experience
I think my Key Learning experience has been doing something that does not come easy to me. English is my strongest subject, not math, so I don’t get to just know math things in a flash. I have to try and not give up.

Most Enjoyable
The thing that was best is that Mama Evelyn is always telling corny jokes in class and even though they are pretty terrible (only Noah seems to like them anyway), the fact that they are terrible makes them funny. I also like that my friend Azza is in this class. I met her in AYA. I like having class with a friend. And I like making videos.

Most Difficult
The two most difficult things that happened were things that I brought upon myself. Once, I didn’t check to see if there was homework all weekend and so I had to try and get it all done before the next day. I was up until 11:00 pm finishing that homework. Then I had to wash the dishes after that. I barely got any sleep. The second thing that happened also involved not checking the homework. Because I didn’t I had to try and get 4 pages of math done in just two days. So I wasn’t really allowed to play or do anything fun very much because I was steady working. ALWAYS CHECK FOR HOMEWORK.

Easiest
The easiest thing I did was going over square roots. The video I made on square roots was fun to make. And the whole square roots section was easy. Every new thing we did with squares and square roots came pretty easy to me, unlike most things in math that I usually have to work harder at.

Writing Class - Afrikan Writers and Publishers
This is a writing class taught by Baba Baoku Duduyemi.

Key Learning
The key learning part of my experience was when I made my advertising videos.

Most Enjoyable
The best thing is that Baba Baoku doesn't give us a lot of assignments and he lets
us work on our books in class. We do not really have a lot of homework and I like
how Baba Baoku will check in and guide us through what we need to do
when it's necessary.

Most Difficult
The most difficult thing was how every time I came in there was always something
else for me to do after I had finished writing the book. After writing, I had to work
on copyrighting, designing book covers, getting illustrations, stuff like that. For me that
stuff is harder than writing and I was sad when the writing was over.

Easiest

The easiest thing was editing my book and fixing errors. That was easy because
it has to do with writing and I love to write! It's my favorite thing to do! Writing or
signing is next.
*Note: My book is not published yet and therefore not in any stores but I will delete this
message when that changes*

Khepra and Upwat
ELA class taught by Mama Camielle Famous and Baba Kojo.

Key Learning
The key learning part of my experience was the last essay we had. I had to learn how
to really write an argumentative essay.

Most Enjoyable
Everything in the class is fun but I like when we get to write stories and stuff like that.
It is really creative and I like being creative.

Most Difficult
The hardest thing for me is to write essays because those aren’t stories and stories
are more fun to write for me and they come easy to me.

Easiest

The easiest thing is to write stories and to make youtube videos. Thanks to this class, I
am now a Booktuber!

Great job reflecting on your key learnings. Keep up the great work!
Beautiful job Sassy Sauce! You know Math was my least favorite subject in school and I never went passed Pre-Algebra. I was in Math labs because I hated it so much. You wouldn’t have guessed that almost all of the jobs I had in my life were in some sort of accounting lol. It just goes to show you that we never stop learning no matter how old we are. Keep up the great work! We are very proud of you!

Oh, Asase Ye! I have heard you speak, seen you dance, listened to your musings, read your book, WHEW! You have my face hurting from smiling with admiration and pride. Your light guides not only your sister and brother but other youth and us, your elders. I thank you, Daughter! Keep moving forward!
