Azza's S-2020

Hi, My name is Azza! This is my 2nd Semester Presentation Page!

Hi, my name is Azza! I have been in AYA for 3 years. I am 12 years old and in the 6th grade. I live in Pennsylvania, and I enjoy reading, playing video games, sewing, painting, swimming, computer coding, and drawing. I am taking 4 classes this semester.
Please comment!!! This is a contest!!!

2019-2020 Awesome Algebra 1

Key Learning: My Key Learning was the equations section we did. Even though it was hard, equations were the base of all the hard problems we did this year.

Most Enjoyable: The most enjoyable was the radicals section because on the worksheet it would have funny names like the square root of salami times the square root of salami!

Most Difficult: The most difficult was definitely the equations section. At first it was easy. Then it got harder and harder and I would stay up late trying to fill in the answers and my grandmother would have to help when it was really late at night (thanks for helping me!!!). I would use a lot of pages to check my work and sometimes I got really discouraged when it was wrong!!! But it paid off and finally we moved on to something else.

Easiest: The easiest for me was the square root section because it is simple!!!

My math vid:

Afrikan Writers and Publishers

Key Learning: My Key Learning was learning what an ISBN code is because now I can understand what it's used for and put one on my book!

Most Enjoyable: The most enjoyable was writing and illustrating my book, of course!

Most Difficult: The most difficult is designing my book cover. I am still not sure if I want to illustrate it or ask another artist to.

Easiest: The easiest is illustrating my book. It is also fun because I like to draw!

My book promotion video:

Melanin Mastery Class

Key Learning: My Key Learning for this class was learning about the different labs in Africa and in the diaspora that are making cures for Covid-19. For example, the Malagasy Institute of Applied Research made a drink called Covid-19 Organics. A lab at Pasteur Institute in Senegal created a Covid-19 test that costs one dollar and the results are in ten minutes!! And a lab in Cuba owned by a company called BioCubaFarma is using a drug called "interferon-alpha 2b" to fight Covid-19.

Most Enjoyable: The most enjoyable thing I did this semester was making my Science Fair presentation with my friend/classmate Jabea! We did an experiment.
Here is the video:

Most Difficult: The most difficult was making all the edits when Afryea, Camaria, and I were making a How to Strengthen The Immune System presentation. CLICK THIS to see the presentation!

Easiest: The 3 Main Functions of Melanin essay that we wrote was the easiest because I like to write! CLICK THIS to read my essay!

Comparative State History

Key Learning: My Key Learning was learning that white people didn't start bringing captive Africans in 1619. The Spanish started stealing Africans and bringing them into North America in 1565.

Most Enjoyable: The most enjoyable was writing my Freedom Story!

Most Difficult: The most difficult was remembering all the facts when we took the tests because there was so much to remember!!

Easiest: The easiest was also writing my freedom story because I like to write! This is the link to my story: CLICK HERE

Greetings of Peace... I am impressed and proud of you. I especially enjoyed the presentations on the immune system. I first heard about allomelanin a few months ago; and, your Freedom Story. The Freedom Story made me relive our history of Slavery, which we must never forget. This gives me hope that you, all our children and all young people will stay awake and carry on. Continue to read and study. Do not believe everything you read or hear. Be an independent thinker. Check it out. Peace, Blessings, Love, Wellness, Prosperity πŸ’•

Hey cuz,
I really enjoyed looking through your presentations. Especially the one where you described how to strengthen your immune system. During the health crisis that we are all experiencing and living right now, it was very informative how you let us know what we can do to make positive changes in our lives to keep our bodies strong.
I congratulate you on finishing your second semester, good luck moving forward and keep up the great work.

Azza O.

I can definitely relate to Awesome Algebra, math itself was challenging for me. It does get harder as you move to the next level. Always keep in mind that you need to master certain areas of math in order to understand and be successful as you move forward and it will help with some sciences as well.
Don’t ever let your pride get in the way of learning, stop and ask for help if you need to, believe me it pays off.
Overall, your presentations were SUPER CUTE!!

What an awesome job Azza! So creative and informative. As a bookie I loved the book ad and agree that we need more adventure books written by African American authors with protagonists who are Black and of who are people of color as we too have rich, enchanting and compelling stories to tell. Excellent!

Azza, this is excellent work. I look forward to seeing the book in print. I absolutely love your reading about your learning from your Comparative State History Class and your written Freedom Story. You put me to shame. I was almost 3o years old when I started reading James Baldwin. And what you are learning mathematically astounds me. I salute you individually and also for your mentioning of your teamwork with other students. I like that you all work collectively, as well. Great work, Azza.
